Abstract: uring 23 detection statistics of 88 ordinary reinforced concrete box-girder bridges in Jiangsu
Province, vertical web cracks were found to be the commonest hazard of this type of bridge1 Based on detecting
and related experimental data on a specific bridge, taking hydration, difference in temperature for sunshine,
relative humidity increment and self-shrinkage increment all into consideration, the stress state of web is
calculated with FEM1 The results of analysis and calculation show that hydration is a major factor of web
cracks during molding board dismantlement, the latter expansion of cracks is mainly because of shrinkage
increment of web and reinforced binding when concrete shrinkage as a whole1
