How to Improve the Students’ Listening Level 1. Introduction As we know, English is a recognized world language, is becoming more and more important in China. Most of the students are enthusiastic about learning English. I am now teaching the junior Grade Two students who were taught by another teacher last year. In my teaching I found that a number of students did not like English, especially in English listening. Each time, when a conversation or a passage is over, they almost know nothing and are totally at a loss what to do about the exercises they are required to do. They thought it was a boring and monotonous task. They were taking a less active role in English learning, a few students even dropped out. How can motivate their interest in English learning, improve the students’ listening level, improve their learning efficiency and result? Based on some approaches that I had learned from “English Language Teaching Methodology”, and considering the characteristics of my students, I decided to motivate the students’ interest in English learning and foster their listening comprehension technique and good habits of listening to improve their English listening level. Stage 1. June, 1st ~June, 5th to dentify a problem Stage 2. June, 6th ~June, 19th to analyze the problem using scientific methods of investigation Stage 3.
