The treated cordieritehas been studied by BET surface aream easurements, XR , XRF analysis and Boehm titration. The results indicated thatM gA l ions removed from the cordier ite structurew ith the acid treatm ent, which increased the acidity of the support, and shows strong a cidityw ith the strong acid treatment. Acid treatment conditions play an mi portant role in the texture of the cordierite support. No changes after treatmentunderm ild conditions ( diluted at room temper ature), but it can obtain ahigh BET surface area, pore volum e, and a suitablepore- size distribu tion after serious acid treatment. Additionally, peaks have been weakened but no changes for the crystalline phaseobserved after acid treatment. The activity of the ruthenium catalystdecreasedw ith the strength of the acid treatmentconditions, indicating that the acidity strength of the surface of the cordierite support
