Rakovi´c June 25, 2007 Abstract This document provides a brief proposal for “Robust Optimization Robust Control Synthesis” reading group. 1 Outline This document is a brief proposal for robust optimization and robust con- trol synthesis reading group (referred hereafter as the robust reading group (RRG)). The RRG aims to study recently proposed robust and stochastic optimization methods [1–7], utilization of these methods in robust control synthesis problems [8–11] as well as some set–theoretic ideas that can be efficiently utilized for the robust control synthesis [12–20] 1.1 Main Objectives The main objectives of RRG are: (i) Understand principles and acquire main ideas employed in recent re- sults on robust and stochastic optimization methods [1–7], (ii) Analyze applications of robust and stochastic optimization methods in the robust control synthesis [8–11], (iii) Analyze main ideas of the set–theoretic methods in control theory and their use in the robust control synthesis [12–20]. 1 1.2 Time Organization Work Methods Weakly meetings are the most convenient form for the efficient activity of the RRG. The proposed starting date is the 19th of June with proposed duration of 4 months. It is expected that the regular meetings of the RRG take place every Tuesday afternoon starting at 17 : 00. The RRG members should present at least one selected publication from the list of references (obviously, the most convenient choice) and prepare detailed analysis of the selected publication for the active discussion with the remaining
