Electric Power Research Institute, CSG, Guangzhou 510080, China) Abstract: Analyzing the operation characteristics of Yunnan Guangdong ±800 kV DC system being into bipolar operation, and comparing the control effects of various control measures, this paper gives an overall framework of security and stability control system for the DC system as follows: to control the DC system on a principle that the total tripping amounts are less than 4 800 MW for generators and then 2 500 MW for power loads, and to adopt measures if these limits are exceeded such as to adjust the restarting scheme, to disable the restarting function, to reduce the power transmission of the DC system or to set it into islanding operation.
