Title: Design and Research on NoC Routing Algorithm and Simulation Model
Background and Motivation:
Network on chip (NoC) is a promising solution to address the communication bottleneck in the modern system-on-chip (SoC) design. One of the key challenges in NoC design is to efficiently route a large number of packets between different cores or processing elements. There have been many routing algorithms proposed for NoC, each with its strengths and weaknesses. However, there is still a need for a comprehensive study on NoC routing algorithms and a simulation model to evaluate their performance.
Research Objectives:
The main objectives of this research are:
1. To review and analyze existing NoC routing algorithms and their advantages and disadvantages.
2. To propose a new NoC routing algorithm that can address the deficiencies of the existing ones and achieve better performance in terms of latency, throughput, and congestion.
3. To develop a simulation model for NoC routing algorithms to evaluate their performance under different traffic patterns, network topologies, and parameters.
Methodology:
The research will adopt the following methodology:
1. Literature review: A systematic review of existing NoC routing algorithms and their performance evaluation will be conducted. The review will also focus on the strengths and weaknesses of the existing algorithms.
2. Algorithm design: Based on the analysis of the existing algorithms, a new NoC routing algorithm will be proposed that can address the deficiencies of the existing ones and achieve better performance in terms of latency, throughput, and congestion.
3. Simulation model development: A simulation model will be developed to evaluate the proposed algorithm and compare it with other existing algorithms. The simulation model will consider various parameters such as network topology, traffic patterns, and routing algorithm parameters.
