I．Introduction China?successfully launched its first man-made satellite, Dongfanghong-I on April 24, 1970, which demonstrated the commencement of?China’s space time. In the past four decades,?China?realized a series of space dreams such as manned space flight and lunar exploration, which marked the fast development of?China’s space technology.?China?now has been in the rank of space powers in the world. However,?China’s space legislations seriously lag behind the development of its space technology.China’s space activities are in the stage of administrative management which is oriented by space policies, supplemented by administrative regulations or rules, and without integrated space law. Promoted by international space legislations and the development of?China’s space activities, the Chinese government also speeds up its efforts to research?China’s domestic space legislations and improve its space policies. This paper is divided into four parts. The first part introduces the situation of?China’s space legislations and policies over the past thirty years since the reform and opening. The second part elaborates the characteristics of?China’s space legislations and space policies. The problems of?China’s space legislation and the reasons for those problems are also analyzed in this part. The third part introduces the role of international space legislations in the framework of UN and multilateral or bilateral space treaties?China?joined in promoting and improvingChina’s space legislations and space policies.
