2013 10 MANAGING AND PLANNING LANDSCAPE IN HISTORIC SITES: Planning Practice and Exploration of the Historic District of Former Central University Chen Yue, Yang Jianqiang ABSTRACT/ Using visual experience as the starting point, this paper emphasizes landscape harmonization and visual control withi n the historic city. The study is based on the concept of “city as landscape” and reveals the designers’ endeavor to reflect the urban landsca pe in their work. Using visual line principle, it conducts 3D planning analysis and control. Finally it overlaps planning parameters such as 2D height zoning division and construction control boundary to the site by using triangular pyramid principle and secton principle, in order to better display and use historic landscape.
