We call this the annual report. The report includes both quantifiable and unquantifiable information. Reading annual reports is an excellent way to familiarize yourself with a company and its markets. Background Information Definition of Annual Report An annual report is a report presented each year by the director to the members and shareholders of a company, giving information about the company’s trading activities and including certain documents which must be produced by law, namely the balance sheet, the profit and loss account, and the auditors’ and directors’ report. Background Information Format of Annual Report Most annual reports follow a very similar format in spite of the different types of information they contain. Common sections are: Letter from Company Chairman/ The Chairman’s Statement Financial Highlights Balance Sheets Profit and Loss Statements New Business Reports Annual Review/ Business Review Projections Outstanding Stock Shares and Value Complete list of Board Members Warm-up Work in pairs.
