It is the use o f magnetic measurements to ide ntify the nature and co ncentratio n of F-e containing minera s in env ir onme nta materia s, w hich is an idea too fo r en- vir onmenta studies in a va riety of env ir onments. T his pa per aim s to provide a comprehensive review o f prev-i ou s studies a nd co ncepts co ncer ning enviro nmenta mag netism. Sig nif icant prog ress has been made u sing env-i ronmenta mag ne tism, in reconstructing c imatic change and env ir onmenta recor ds in Chinese oess studies.
