In order to evaluate the designs coming from this and subsequent steps, we must develop a set of evaluation criteria and attributes which are important to all customers (internal and external). Again, do not think of cost at this step. Cost must NOT be one of the evaluation criteria. We will achieve the best cost if we actively pursue the other criteria. During this stage of 3P, each team member should work independently and develop their own seven design/ways. Otherwise, we will severely limit the idea generating capabilities of the group. By using and combining the mechanisms from nature, generate seven designs/ways to address the defined function. In this case the person used their 12 year old mind to develop some of the ideas. You must keep an open mind here and not be afraid to be creative or think differently. Try not to make every one of your ideas something that already exists. Sketch your proposal designs on the 7 Designs Sheet and place on wall/board. When completed, there should be at least one 7 Designs Sheet posted for each member of the team. If your team is developing a manufacturing process, use instead the 7 Ways Sheet. This Document also takes into consideration factors which are important to manufacturing. Many of the proposals will have similar backgrounds and may be grouped together. A Word of Warning: When you get to steps 3-6 you mind will be working in overdrive. Do not expect to get much sleep as ideas will begin to pop into your head at anytime. If this is happening to you...it is a good sign. Your creativity is beginning to show. Whether you are working on the product or process, from the proposal sketches pick seven of the proposals for MOONSHINE testing. It is from these mock-ups and simulations that other ideas will be generated. Therefore....get at it and do not spend a lot of time thinking about it. Build, fabricate or assemble these proposal ideas for purposes of conducting simulation for evaluation purposes. It is i
