millingcutterItusuallyconsistsofacylindricalbodywhichrotatesonitsaxisand

containsequallyspacedperipheralteeththatintermittentlyengageandcuttheworkpiece

Becausethemillingprincipleprovidesrapidmetalremovalandcanproducegoodsurface

finish,itisparticularlywell-suitedformass-productionwork,andexcellentmilling

machineshavebeendevelopedforthispurposeHowever,veryaccurateandversatile

millingMachinesofageneral-purposenaturealsohavebeendevelopedthatarewidely

usedinjobshopandtoolanddieworkAshopthatisequippedwithamillingmachine

andanenginelathecanmachinealmostanytypeofproductofsuitablesize

TypesofMillingOperationsMillingoperationscanbeclassifiedintotwobroad

categories,eachofwhichhasseveralvariations:
