Automotive piston type internal combustion engine is widely used on cars, which has a small range of variation of torque and speed. Because of the use of complex conditions, vehicle traction and the vehicle speed should be varied within a relatively wide range. By changing the gear ratio, the engine crankshaft torque can be changed, adapting the start, acceleration, driving and other different driving conditions which need to overcome a variety of roads ,which the drive wheel traction and speed of different requirements. With the rapid development of technology, people are increasingly demanding high performance cars, car performance, service life, energy consumption, noise and vibration, etc. depends largely on the performance of the transmission, it is necessary to attach importance to the study of the transmission. This paper describes the transmission’s working principle, structure, transmission programs. It has determined the program through the understanding of the design task. The transmission ratio has been optimized by Mat lab software, and on the involved parts (gears, shafts, bearings) structural design and checking. Keywords: Transmission Driv
