DEVELOPMENTCOURSE I think t would be very interesting if we pay attention to the development course of currency before the emergence of bitcoin and find some law. At the very beginning, transactions took place by barter. Suppose Ben needs a sheep while Jack needs a pack of flour. Luckily, Ben happens to have a pack of flour and Jack is right there to have a sheep, so they exchange with each other to get what they want. However they’re not always so lucky and of course this kind of transaction is anything but convenient. So people started to value goods in terms of gold. When Ben needs a sheep, he just goes to those who have sheep and buy a sheep with, hrrr, let’s say a gram of gold, so does Jack. And we call gold the commodity money. Problems are not solved in this period, because if people want to buy many goods they have to bring heavy gold with them, also gold is easy to be scuffed. That’s why token money was produced, which is known as paper money. People don’t have to bring gold with them anymore, instead they use paper money equivalent to gold(as we referred to,let’s a gram of gold) to buy a sheep, a pack of flour or other things. Token money must be delivered and controlled by creditable authority according to both the gold reserves and the total volume of commodity. This principle is the bedrock of the whole current monetary system. This centralized system was taken advantage of by some institutions to deliver more money than they should, causing serious inflation. Why don’t financiers and economists come up with a new kind of currency which dosen’t depend on a single authority? Here we go. I’ve already introduced the working principle of bitcoin in my last presentation. So this time I’ll just show you the picture and inform you of the inevitability of its emergence and its commitment to promote the decentration of monetary system.
