Americans don’t get that kind of restrictions and they have more space to think themselves. So it seems that Americans emphasize freedom and independence much more than Chinese. However, with time going on, something changed. We Chinese still entertain our friends at banquets, hoping our guests will enjoy the foods that are delicious. On the other hand, people have given up some conservative values such as children’s unquestioning obedience to their parents. Nowadays, children and parents respect each other. Children receive much more attention than before. From the news I heard that American parents will be punished if they leave their children alone at home. And I have to mention that we Chinese do not accept all things with both hands any more, unless it is a medal or certificate on public occasions. That is not to say we are not as polite as ancients.
