A Teaching Design for 7A Unit 5 Going shopping ( Comic strip &Welcome to the Unit ) Teacher GaoYun 高云 Zhenjiang Experimental School, RunZhou District 镇江市金山实验学校 Title Period 1 comic strip and Welcome to the Unit Course Book Oxford English, Book 7A Grade Seven Design Principles According to the English Curriculum Standard, the general teaching aim is to develop the students’ comprehensive abilities of using English. To reach this target, we have to arouse the students’ interest in learning English, strengthen their confidence, develop good learning habits, form effective learning strategies. Oxford English features a ‘building blocks’ approach. It has a learner-centered framework. Therefore, the Task-Based Approach is the best choice to promote communication, thinking and doing in their learning activities. In my opinion, we need to use the course-book creatively and constructively. We should feel free to modify or replace the teaching materials according to the teaching goals. Analysis on Learners They have learned many language structures to use English in practical situations. Though they are lack of vocabulary, they are eager to communicate with others on familiar topics. This period will arouse their interest in learning English. They are willing to express their feelings. So I must try my best to help them keep up their passion and build the feeling of success and self-confidence. Analysis On the Teaching Material 5D Teaching Goals Knowledge 1. Vocabulary: wallet/ idea /already/go shopping/be free/music box/comic books etc. 2. Sentences: I want you to go shopping with me today. I need you to carry all the bags. Simon’s birthday is coming up. Do you have any good ideas? I can buy a yo-yo for him. What do you think?
