倡议书保护北极熊 篇一：北极熊和动物保护　　Opinion column on polar bear　　Nowadays, the polar bears are being hunted and are impacted by the climate change.The polar bears are killed mostly by local people and the hunt takes an important cultural role. The selling price of a polar bear is an important income for the local people. They get sum of money from the polar bear. Selling polar bears is a way the local people get money from. It’s such a golden jar to the local people.The hunting mostly occurs in Canada and the local people lives near the Arctic Ocean. Also the polar bears taken in hunts is used as food and in some communities. Even the Artic peoples have　　traditionally hunted polar bears for food, clothing and some religious　　purpose.The polar bears have been hunted for thousands of years. In addition, the increasing temperature in the Arctic has change the population of the polar bear in some ways. 　　Polar bears spend most of their lives on the sea ice of the Arctic Ocean and are classified as marine mammals. They have a thick layer of body fat and a coat that insulate them from the cold air and water. They use over 50% of their life hunting for foods, but less than 2% of their hunts are successful. And that make them need large amounts of fat to survive. That make them hard to survive.The total polar bear population is declining and there is a high risk of the future. Also polar bears have very low reproductive rates due to their 　　delayed maturation. Their bodies are small, but they have high mortality. The low reproductive rates mean that the population growth rates are low and because of they have high mortality, there are less and less of them survive. WWF shows that if the population is greatly reducing in numbers, then it may take many years or even decades for the population to return to its original size. That shows that if we keep hunting the polar bears, it will be very fast for them to be extinct, that means we are losing one of the cutest marine　　mammals in
