Firstly, we introduced the experimental setup and optical system, including laser source, scanning mirror, focusing lens, etc. Then, we analyzed and compared different numerical simulation methods, selected the one that could accurately simulate the interaction between femtosecond laser and water, and optimized the parameters. We described the data acquisition and analysis methods of the experiments, and provided some preliminary experimental results, including the optical properties of water and the critical power density of laser-induced breakdown. Finally, we discussed and prospect the next step work, including further improvement of simulation methods, enhancement of experimental accuracy, and expansion of research scope, etc. Keywords: Femtosecond laser; Water optics; Breakdown; Numerical simulation; Experimental research.
