It understands the complex relationship between genotype and phenotype on a global (genome-wide) scale This course offers a timely summary of the principles, approaches, and applications of functional genomics. It presents a comprehensive review of approaches for large-scale functional study, covering genome structures of prokaryotes and eukaryotes, next-generation sequencing, bacterial genome sequencing, applied bioinformatics analysis, RNA-seq transcriptome, proteomics. With the small projects about microbial functional omics, it provides interesting homework for the undergraduate students with a major or minor in the field of Microbiology, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, and Bioinformatics. This course will enrich the knowledge system of biology and help students master the basic methods of mining big data.
