22 2013 6 中原文物 年第 期 铜镜出土状态研究 王锋钧 杨宏毅 ( , 7 10068) 西安博物院 陕西 西安 Abstract :Bronze mirror appeared at the site of Qijia culture four thousand years ago ,and became popu- lar among the nobility during the Warring States. It was basically universal among all social stratum in the late Western Han Dynasty. In the late Qing Dynasty ,it was replaced by the glass mirror. Through archaeological discovery ,bronze mirrors unearthed from the tombs with various attachments on the surface indirectly reflected the funeral customs ,religious beliefs and traditional values in ancient times. From the attachments on the sur- face of the bronze mirror and the objects unearthed with it ,there were different ways that the ancient people placed the mirrors. Usually ,it was wrapped with a cloth and put in simple ways. Some also were put into round or square container ,and some into the belt sachet hanging at the waist. The big ones were placed on the dressing table or circumscribed in the mirror screen. From the way that the bronze mirror was put in the tomb , it reflected the piety and the ghost concept in the funeral activities respectively that bronze mirror was buried as a daily using object and something against evil. The Buddhist and Taoist themes reflected the tomb owners ’ religious beliefs. From the form that the bronze mirrors were buried ,the one broken into two halves mirrored the eternal love concept of the tomb owner ,and the one broken into pieces mirrored the concept of animism in funeral activities.
