ThedesignofBRIF·ISOLhasbeeninprogressin2007,themajorprorgessesrelatedtohteproject
arereported.Th emechanicaldesign oftargetion sourceisunderway,hteoptimizeofhteextraction
electrodehasbeencarriedouttominimizehtebeam emittance.Th ehna dlingschemeofradioactiveion
sourcena ditsnerabyinstrumentsisfurtheroptimi zed,withinthisscheme,htetragetionsourceandits
nearbyinstrumentsraeassembledintodifferentmodules,htemodulecna beremovedtoahotcellfor
maintenancewihtoutmanual intervene.A demonsrtationprototypehasbeendesing edna dwillbetested
soon.Th eLD31Alumi num alloyhasbeenselectedashtematerial ofhtevacuum chma berofrtargetion
sourcena dnearbyinstrumentstoreducehteactivationcausedbyhighenergyneurtonsfrom target.Th e
suppliersofhtehotcellofrmaintennaceoftargetionsourcehavebeencontactedofrmnaufacture;hte
contractwillbesing edsoon.
Themechanicalparma etersofsevendipolemagnetsinBRIF-ISOLhavebeendetermined;hteyrae
readyofrplacingorder.Toelimi natehteaberrationrfom htemagnets,3rdordersurfacecoilshavebeen
testedonna existingdipo le,htemeasurementvalueiswellconsistentwiht designvalue.Th eproblems
foundinhtetestsuchashighertemperatureofcircuitborad,non—zerofieldinhtecenterwillbefurther
investigated.Th eprama etersofappraautsofrmang eticfieldmeasurementhavebeendeterminednadhte
suppliershasbeencontacted,itisreadytoplaceorder.Th efielddistributionofhteelectrosatticlensused
inBRIF—ISOLhasbeencalculatedna ditsmechanicaldesignwillbecarriedout.
Inhteaspectofbema diang osticsinstruments,hteassemblydrawingofemittancena dwiresscanner
