Abstract: A rice zebra leaf mutant B411 was examined using transmission electron microscopy technique to study the chloroplast
ultrastructure during development of zebra leaf. The results showed that there was a distinct difference between green and yellow
zones of the same leaf when the leaf was enwrapped in the sheath. Chloroplasts were spindle-shaped with thylakoid membranes
neatly arranged along the longitudinal direction in the green zone, however, chloroplasts in the yellow zone were oval-shaped with
