Abstract: Raman propert ies of nanocrystalline ( NCs) Europium doped Yttria ( Y O : Eu3+ ) were

investigated. The NCs was synthesized by the gel combustion met hod by w hich w e got the NCs from nm to
50 nm. T he t ypical feat ure of Raman shifts at 100 cm- 1 - 500 cm- 1 of this material was measured. We
identif ied the Raman shifts of phonon vibration among the spectrum w hich mixed w ith the emission peaks
according to the data of bulk Y O : Eu3+ . The spectrum of Raman shifts varied according to the crystalline

size, and so did t he emission spect rum. A w ide band peak and some new peaks that appeared in the emission
