Abstract:The developed water-based zircon powder coatings include base-coating and surface-coating. The coating
possesses a good permeability of 2. 6 mm with a desirable filling and anti thermo-expansion of sand mold. T he
surface-coating has a thick coating character of 1. 1mm with a good ant-i erosion character on liquid metal. The above
double coatings combined with newly developed Z-1 sand can effectively prevent metal penetration in large-size steel
castings by no-bake furan resin sand process.
