Th ism ethod fits paper edges w ith a series of short lines; those short lines link to each other and compose a closed cur e of scrapped paper edges. During the progress of edge fitting, line interpolation method is used to obtain d is- crete points of the short line; the smi ilar ity bewt een mi age edge and short line is estmi ated through analyzing the point attributes. In order to guarantee the scann ing direction continu ity, circle interpolation method is used to rotate the short line. In the paper, noise characteristic and its elmi inating method are also studied; generalmulti edge de- tecting method formu lti scrapped paper mi ages is also d iscussed in detail. In the end, two real scrapped paper mi a- ges are analyzed using the computer program de eloped accord ing to th is algorithm, and analysis resu lts testify that the proposed edge detection algorithm for scrapped paper is reliab le and efficient.
