The Application of Educational Technology in Spoken English Teaching and Learning Abstract English, as a global language, is becoming more and more indispensable in the communications among the countries all over world. While as a language skill, the improvement of the oral English is the common object for the peoples of the whole world, especially for the countries, whose mother languages are not English, such as China. With the development of the application of information technology, the educational technology has been connected with the university English education step by step during a long period in China. That improves the teaching methods and teaching tools, at the same, it also promotes the reform of the educational thoughts and teaching modes. It is well-known that the effective application of technology in education plays a more and more important role. It is technological, precise and vivid so that it can cultivate and increase the learners’ interest in their learning processes. This paper contains five sections in the main body. Firstly, it illustrates the situation of the traditional English teaching to explain its shortages. Then the thesis gives a brief introduction of the definition of the educational technology and introduces different forms of the application of that in English teaching, especially in the spoken English teaching and learning. It also shows many advantages of those teaching forms with the help of the technology. At the same time, through the comparison of the modern educational technology and the traditional spoken English educational system, it will be clear that the advantages of the multimedia, the computer assisted language learning (CALL) and the Internet in the process of spoken English teaching is undeniable.
