About the number Unlucky number Lucky number Unlucky number Lucky number love and marriage choosing the wedding date The Romans believed that Juno, their goddess of women, blessed marriages that took place in her month. So June is considered the perfect month for marriage. Something old , something new, something borrowed, something blue When getting married, brides traditionally wear or carry something old ,something new, something borrowed, and something blue. “something old” can be anything that has brought good luck to its owner in the past. “something new” is a symbol of hope for the future. “something borrowed” adds the good luck of the giver to the bride. And blue, considered a lucky color, is a traditional protection for all women. carrying the bride across the threshold (门槛) The custom of the groom carrying his bride over the threshold is believed to bring the couple good fortune. One superstition says that evil spirits trying to spoil the newlywed’s(新婚夫妇 )happiness might cause the bride to fall as she enters here new home, so the groom should carry her to keep her from falling. wearing a veil(面纱) The wedding veil is a reminder of the bridal canopy(遮篷)that was built to keep the evil eye from the wedding celebration. Raising the veil is a symbol of the daughter’s freedom from her parent’s control. wearing a white wedding gown As far back as the Greeks, the white gown(婚纱) was a symbol of joy. Now a white wedding dress is more a symbol of purity than of joy Saying “bread and butter” to avoid separation Superstition has it this way: bread that has been buttered can never be unbuttered.
