Abstract
Thismid-termreportpresentstheprogressmadeinresearchonthemechanicalbehaviorofpavementstructuresusinghigh-frequencylow-amplituderesonancebreakingtechnology.Thereportfocusesonthefollowingaspects:theoreticalanalysisofresonancebreakingtechnology,experimentalsetup,andpreliminaryexperimentalresults.Basedontheanalysisandexperimentsconducted,thestudyshowspromisingresultsthatcanbeexploredfurthertoimprovetheknowledgeofthemechanicalbehaviorofpavementstructuresandprovideinsightsforpavementdesignandmaintenance.
Introduction
Pavementstructuresareanessentialcomponentoftransportationinfrastructurethatrequiresfrequentmaintenanceandrehabilitationduetotheeffectsoftrafficloadandenvironmentalfactors.Inadequatedesignandmaterialselectioncanleadtorapiddeteriorationofthestructure,potentiallycausingsafetyhazardstovehiculartraffic.Maintenanceandrehabilitationofthesestructuresareessentialforthesafetyofroadusers.However,themethodsusedforevaluatingthepavementstructurehealthhavelimitationsintermsofaccuracyandaccessibility.
Recently,theuseofhigh-frequency,low-amplituderesonantfrequencytechnologyhasincreasedinthefieldofpavementevaluation.Thistechnologyinvolvesinducingresonanceinthepavementstructureathighfrequencieswhilemeasuringtheamplitudeofvibration.Themeasuredamplitudecanthenbeusedtoassesstheconditionandmechanicalpropertiesoftheroadstructure.
