Thesis statement: The thinking mode between Chinese and Western world is different objectively. It is favorable for us to translate the Chinese poem when we know these differences and their causes. The poetry will be liberated from the tie cultures and new ways of thought and translation methods will be introduced into poetry translation.
I. Compare the linear thinking and spiral thinking which reflect the form of the
Chinese poem,and how to translate .
A. Try to make expressions more clear.
B.Try to add pronouns to express more clear.
II. Solve the poetry translation problem which caused by image thinking and abstract thinking.
A. Make sure translation is a brief description.
B. Change expression form and tense in order to express poets natural voice.
III. Conclusion : Difference in thinking are the chief elements that bring about the disparity in languages, translators should use special way to make the poem translation more vivid.
Introduction
Poetry is the upmost form in the literature.As Confucius said,Poetry may serve to inspire, to reflect, to communicate and to admonish. Actually the poetry has a great influence on human. The thinking mode between Chinese and Western world is different objectively, due to the influences of different nature and humane conditions. It is favorable for us to learn poetry translation when we know these differences and their causes.
Under the influence of Chinese and English traditional culture, peoples thinking model and their value concepts are factors to understand the each others poem. Famous poet Rudyard Kipling use the poem The Ballad of East and West to compare the different thinking modes between Chinese and English :
Oh ,East is East,West is west
And never the twain shall meet
Till Earth and Sky stand presently
At Gods great judgment sorly.……
