You should clearly state your opinion and explain the reasons. You should write about 600 words. ? Some people believe that imitation is more valuable than innovation. Copying others’ ideas is good business, and sometimes, even great business. While examining the leading players in many sectors, you will be surprised to find that it is not the pioneers but the able and creative imitators that often have the edge. McDonald’s imitated a system pioneered by White Castle, an American regional fast food restaurant chain. Visa, MasterCard and American Express all borrowed from the efforts of Diners Club to introduce the credit card to a then skeptical audience of consumers and merchants. The founder of Wal-Mart admitted that it had borrowed most of its practices from its predecessors but then improved on them and combined them into a winning formula. Today’s lions are the descendants of copycats. ? Others, however, despise copying, especially when China is developing from a manufacturing hub to an innovation economy. “The act of stealing and pirating from other brands is intolerable worldwide.
