This article describes the movements of the salaries of middle-level managerial
and professional employees in major economic sectors in the past 10 years.
Statistics of employees entitlement to various kinds of企inge benefits are also
presented.
Over the past decade, the average annual salary increase for the middle-level
managerial and professional employees, as measured by Nominal Salary Index
(A), was 7.2%. The year-on-ye訂changes of salary rates for all industry
sectors were around 10% during 1991 to 1995. In 1996 and 1997, the
year-on-year changes of salary rates were around 8%. From 1998 onwards,
the year-on-year increases of salary rates were on a downward trend. In 1999,
even a year-on-year decrease of . % was recorded. With the revival of

business activities in 2000, average salary rate for all industry sectors showed
a slight positive year-on-year growth ofO.4%.
