In addition, Helios is attempting to expand its economic base by attracting companies that focus on research and development of innovative technologies.” Discuss how well reasoned . . . etc. 考生原文 The conclusion endorsed in this argument is that the city of Helios is a good place for companies to establish a new business. To justify the claim, the author proves several pieces of evidence. Firstly, the author points out that Helios has a lower unemployment rate than average. In addition, the author reasons that it is an industrial center. What’s more, the author also assumes that Helios is also seeking companies in order to expand its economic base. As we glance over the argument, the author’s argument is somewhat convincing, but further reflection reveals that it omits something important that should be addressed to solidify this conclusion. Therefore, the reasoning in this argument is problematic in several respects. First of all, the author claims it has a low unemployment rate in Helios which means it is difficult to find enough labors for those new fledgeless corporations. Even though they find enough labors, new companies may not afford the high cost of labors because of the less available work force. In other words, low unemployment rate will increase the cost and decrease the profits of the company.
