Color image illumination compensation based on homomorphic fil-
tering

Abstract:To eliminate the ill mination infl ence to color image, an ill mination compensation method
based on homomorphic filtering is proposed. In freq ency range,the homomorphic filtering is employed to
process the image,and the B tterworth high pass filtering f nction is introd ced into the homomorphic
filter to design a new dynamic Ga ss homomorphism filter.Then the l minance component of the image
in YIQ color space is enhanced and the chrominance component maintains invariable,by which the high
freq ency component is increased while the low freq ency component is red ced, the image q ality drop
ca sed by ill mination ins fficiency is relieved.Finally, the image ill mination compensation is achieved.
Experimental res lts demonstratethat the proposed method, which performs well in weakening ill mina-
tion effect and improving image q ality, is more effective to ill mination compensation for color image
than conventional Ga ss high filtering and histogram eq alization.
