MATLAB是集数学计算、结果可视化和编程于一身，能够方便地进行科学计算和大量工程运算的应用软件。目前，MATLAB软件已经成为世界上应用最广泛的工程计算软件之一。在美国等发达国家的理工类大学里，MATLAB软件是大学生必须掌握的一种基本工具，在研究设计单位和工业部门，它更是研究和解决工程计算问题的应用软件，是工程技术人员必备的软件。

本课程系统地介绍MATLAB基本用法，包括：数学计算、程序设计、符号运算、绘制图形及图形用户界面设计等基础知识。通过本课程的学习，使学生能够使用MATLAB进行一般的工程计算，使MATLAB成为学生学习专业知识、课程设计、毕业设计及课外科技活动的重要辅助工具。

MATLABisanintegratedsoftwaretoolthatcombinesmathematicalcomputation,resultvisualization,andprogramming,makingithighlyconvenientforscientificcalculationsandextensiveengineeringcomputations.Currently,MATLABhasbecomeoneofthemostwidelyusedengineeringcomputationsoftwareintheworld.InSTEMuniversitiesacrossdevelopedcountriesliketheUnitedStates,MATLABisafundamentaltoolthatstudentsarerequiredtomaster.Furthermore,inresearchinstitutionsandindustrialsectors,MATLABisacrucialapplicationforstudyingandsolvingengineeringcomputationalproblems,makingitanessentialtoolforengineeringprofessionals.

ThiscourseprovidesasystematicintroductiontothebasicusageofMATLAB,coveringtopicssuchasmathematicalcomputation,programming,symboliccomputation,graphplotting,andgraphicaluserinterfacedesign.Bycompletingthiscourse,studentswillbeabletouseMATLABforgeneralengineeringcalculations,makingitanimportantauxiliarytoolforlearningprofessionalknowledge,courseprojects,graduationprojects,andextracurricularscientificactivities.
