And politeness principles play a key part in helping them to gain their objectives in the correspondence. Based on the politeness principles, together with the characteristics, principles and functions of business correspondence, this paper analyzes the politeness principle in business correspondence through examples both in positive and negative representation, and comes up with some strategies. It concludes that politeness principle plays an important role in modern business correspondence.
