Abstract: Two constitutive equations including modified Johnson-Cook and Swift were used to fit the
true stress-strain curves of 304 metastable austenitic stainless steel. The fitting results were good. Two
simulations of cup drawing with two constitutive equations based on LS-Dyna and the practical
10 experiment of cup drawing were carried out. The comparison of simulation and experiment, from the
aspects of thickness variation, load-displacemen curve and major strain, showed that two simulations
predicted the thickness variation of the bottom and wall of cup well. The prediction of thinning at the
punch radius and thickening at the die radius and flange based on Johnson-Cook was more correct than
Swift which was more effective in predicting the load-displacement curve. Two constitutive equations
15 also worked well in predicting major strain distribution at the bottom and punch radius.
