ThisinstructionsheetdetailstheremovalandreplacementoftheMitsubishiElectric105P55starter.For

startersequippedwithanIntegratedMagneticSwitch(IMS),installationproceduresandtorquevaluesare

identicalregardlessofIMSlocation.

Besuretofollowpropersafetytechniquesasoutlinedbyyourshoporemployer.Thisincludes

wearingsafetyglassesandglovesatalltimes,anddisconnectingthevehicle’sbatteriesduringany

repairofthestartingsystem.

Thecomponentslistedbelowmaycontinuetohavepowersuppliedtothemevenwhentheignition

switchisoff.Useextremecautionatalltimes.

Disconnectthevehicle’sbatteriesbeforeanyservicetothestartingsystem.

Ifaspacerwasusedbetweentheoldstarterandflywheelhousing,ensureitisinstalledwiththe

newstarter.Failuretodosomayresultinpinionmeshingproblemsandsubsequentdamage.

Cleanallgrommetswithawirebrushpriortoreinstallationtoensurelowresistanceconnections.

Ifdielectricgreaseorothercorrosion-inhibitingproductisappliedtoterminals,applyAFTERtightening

terminalstopropertorque.Thisprocedureensureslowresistanceconnections.

IfreplacingastarterwithanIMS,thereplacementstartershouldhaveanIMS.Alwaysconnectthe

controlleadtotheIMSterminalifsoequipped.Failuretodosomayresultinundesired

performance.
