ABSTRACT:Theperformanceofdirect-sequencecode-divisionmultiple-access(DMA)syetemdependspri
marilyontheorthogonalityofthecodes,whichisdestroyedbythemultipathpropagationoftheunderwateracoustic
channel.Inthispaper,aDMAmultiuserunderwateracousticcommunicationsystemisproposed.AMIMOdecision
-feed-backequalizerisemployedtocanceltheintersymbolinterference(ISI)andsupressmultiple-accessinter
ference(MAI).Thissystemhashighleveloftoleranceforthenear-fareffectduetoanextraspreadspectrumgain.
Smiulationsareperformedtostudytheperformanceonnear-fareffectsupressionandtmiedelaybewteenusers.Smi
ulationresultsshowthatiftheweakeruserssignalpoweris14dBlowerthanthestrongerone,thereceivercanstill
distinguishallthethreeusersdatawithouterrorwhenspreadingfactoris15andinputSNRis16dB.
