Atpresent,theagingsituationofChinaspopulationisbecomingincreasingly

severe.Thecontinuousadvancementofurbanizationhasheightenedtherural-urban

migrationoftheyounglaborforce.However,manyelderlyindividualshavenot

migratedwiththeirchildrenandhavegraduallybecomeemptynest.Accordingto

Socioemotionalselectivitytheory,olderindividualstendtoprioritizemoreintimate

socialrelationshipsfromafuturetimeperspective.Throughliteraturereview,this

studyidentifiesfourmainsourcesofsocialrelationshipsfortheelderly:partner

relationships,childrenrelationships,grandchildrenrelationships,andneighbor

relationships.Additionally,drawingfromsocialidentitytheory,enhancingan

individualssocialrelationshipscanaidinself-identification,therebyinfluencing

subjectivewell-beingtoasignificantextent.Literaturerevealsthatsubjective

well-beingconsistsoflifesatisfactionintermsofcognitivejudgmentanddepression

intermsofemotionalexperience.Exploringthesubjectivewell-beingoftheelderly

canbemorecomprehensivelyachievedbyconsideringbothpositiveandnegative

dimensions.Furthermore,asthethresholdformobilephoneusedecreases,ithas

becomemoreaccessiblefortheelderlytousemobilephones.Therefore,more

attentionshouldbedirectedtowardsunderstandingthemoderatingeffectofmobile

phoneuseinthesubjectivewell-beingoftheelderly.Inthecontextofactively

respondingtopopulationaging,investigatingtheformationmechanismofsubjective

well-beingamongempty-nestelderlyindividualsfromtheperspectiveofmobile

communicationholdssignificanttheoreticalandpracticalimplications.This

explorationcanpromotesocialparticipationanddigitaladaptationamongtheelderly,

ultimatelyenhancingtheirhappinesslevels.
