Compression seal between the nose of the front ferrule and the tube. The back ferrule drives the front ferrule forward and the nose of the front ferrule seals against the body seat and the tube. The nose of the back ferrule springs the back of the front ferrule outward and collapses on to the tube. The back ferrule pushes up a small dam of material to seal tube imperfections and provide resistance to impulses etc. The end of the tube locks into the sizing angle and the nose of the back ferrule locks on to the tube. These two isolation points absorb line loads (vibration, bending, flexing, etc.) but one of the isolation points is a secondary sealing point. Various methods (scales) of measuring hardness are shown and vertical lines are equal hardness on the different scales. Ferrule hardening insures consistent tubing grip because the grip area of the ferrule is much harder than even the outer skin of the tubing.
