Abstract :Using GPS-leveling data and surface mean free-air gravity anomalies respectively in mainland China, we
had tested the precision of Ea rth Gravity Model 2008 (EGM2008).Based on the test results, some conclusions have
been drawn as follows:① The accuracy of EGM2008 height anomalies achieves 20 cm in mainland, 12 cm in Cen-
tral-East China, and even 9 cm in North China;② The general accuracy of EGM 2008 free-air gravity anomalies is

10.5 mGal (1 mGal=10 cm/s )in China;③ The EGM2008 accuracy is very high and its global precision is similar
to the Chinese mainland s;④ Compared with WDM 94, QDMseries and EGM96, the accuracy of EGM 2008 height
anomalies is increased by 3 ~ 5 times, also by above 2 times compared with IGG05b and EIGEN-5c, especially in
gravity anomalies.Based on the resea rch of EGM 2008, it has been significantly improved to have the better under-
standing of gravity field structure in China, especially in west China.Therefore, suggestions are made on construc-
ting (Ultra-)high gravity model of best fitting Chinese gravity field by combination of different national sector latest
data and re-computing National (quasi-)geoid on the basis of EGM200
