情态动词might用法详解 内蒙古霍林郭勒市第一中学 吴大立 2004.12.22 一、陈述式中，may的过去式 （一）表示可能性、推测 1.might do：可能…，也许。 e.g. She said he might come late. 2.might have done:可能已…了，说不定…了 e.g. I thought my uncle might have missed the train. (二）表示许可、允许、可能 译为“做…亦可；即使做…亦无妨” （三）、表示让步 译为“（即使）…也，尽管…也” e.g. Whatever he might say, no one believed him. 四、表示目的的状语从句 译为“为了…，以便能…” e.g. They moved over a little so that I might sit down. (普通用could或should） 五、表示愿望、担心等名词性从句中，译为“会，能” e.g. His parents hoped that he might pass the exam. She was afraid that she might have hurt his feelings. 二、虚拟式中 （一）表示可能性、推测 1.might do : 或许，说不定.一般较may可能性低。 E.g. She might win the prize. 2. might have done:或许（已）…了。 e.g. You might have left it in your house. (二）表示允许、可能 译为“（简直）可以…，也可…” E.g. He’s married a woman that might be his daughter. (三）用might do 1. 表示与现在事实相反的假设结果，与表示假设条件的从句或短语连用。译为“（如果…的话）可能” E.g. You might be late if you went on foot. 2. 表示与现在事实相反的假设条件，与if连用，译为“（假如）可以…的话” E.g. I would go with you if I might. * * *
