* * Process description The heat from heated steam is changed into mechanical energy in the turbine. The turbine has three sections: the high, medium and low pressure section, all aligned on a shaft. The fresh steam supplied by the boiler is initially routed to the high pressure section. Subsequently, the steam is heated in the boiler to subsequently drive the turbine blades in the middle and low pressure section. The blades become increasingly larger in the high and low pressure section so that the expanding steam can transmit its energy optimally with the lowering of temperature and pressure. Following discharge from the low pressure section the steam has a temperature of 40°C and a pressure of c. 0.1bar. It is routed to the main condenser at these low temperatures, unsuited for for further use. Feed steam for the heating of feed water is also extracted for the middle and low pressure sections.
