Abstract:Peatcontainsmanyfunctionalgroups,suchasalcohols,aldehydes,acids,andphenolichydroxideswhichcanbeinvolved
inchemicalbondingwithmetallicions.Theuseofpeatforremoval ofnickelfrom aqueoussolutionhasbeeninvestigatedatvariousa—
queouspH valuesbymeansofliquidscintillationcounting.ThepresentresearchshowsthattheabilityofbindingNionpeatincreases
withincrementofaqueouspH valuesandreachestheadsorptionequilibrium rapidly.A reasonablekineticmodel,pseudo—second—
ordermodel,hasbeendevelopedandfittedofrsoprtionofnickel(II)ontopeat.Thepseudo—second—ordermodelprovidesahigh
de~eeofcorrelationwiththeexperimentaldataofrthesoprtionofnickelontopeat. ’
