Abstract TheeffectsofstimulatingdorsaIraphenucleus(DR)onactivityofcerebeliar
interposed nucleus(1N)wasinvestigated StimulationofDR elicited inhibitory.excitatory
andbiphasic(inhibition—excitationandexCitation—inhibition)reSpOnesSfrom IN cells.Th e
n~jorityofresponsivecellsshowedaninhibitory respoiks~(76.O%)withalatencyoflessthan
30ms.Thespontaneousdischargerfequenciesofthe IN ~xllswere 5to 120Hz.and theIN
cellswithhigherdischargefrequenciesshowed low responsiveratestotheDR stimulation in
comparisonwiththoseIowerfiringfrequnecycellsInjectionof5一HT2/1Creceptorantago-
nistmethyesrgidc(iv)couldblockthedepressiveeffectofDR stimulationO111theIN cells
(85.7%)Theseresultssuggestthatraphe-cerebellarserotonergicafferentfibersmaybein·
volvedin thecerebeUaresnsorimotorintegrationprocessby exertingtheirm odulatory action
