New progress of cerebral blood flow monitoring in children with congenital heart disease
Children with congenital heart disease (CHD) due to changes of hemodynamics and blood rheology, significantly affect the function of the central nervous system, can cause neurological symptoms and signs, influence the prognosis, which is mainly due to congenital heart disease in most patients caused by decreased cerebral blood flow. Changes of cerebral blood flow using transcranial Doppler ultrasound monitoring, not only can guide the cyanotic congenital heart disease before surgery, conservative treatment, can also be used for various types of congenital heart surgery and cardiac catheterization in the treatment of cerebral blood flow monitoring and emboli monitoring, timely intervention to improve the prognosis. Transcranial Doppler technique has been developed in many fields of clinical application because of its non-invasive, convenient, dynamic and no need to accept radiation.

In recent years, more attention has been paid to the monitoring of cerebral circulation during the perioperative period of congenital heart disease in children. Due to congenital heart disease lesion and surgical treatment, especially the changes of hemodynamics during cardiopulmonary bypass, significantly affect the central nervous system (CNS) function, can cause symptoms, even left with different degrees of sequela of CNS. Therefore, people hope to dynamically monitor the changes of cerebral blood flow by transcranial Doppler (TCD) technique, and reduce the complications of CNS and improve the prognosis in time. In this paper, the application of this technique in the field of congenital heart disease in children is reviewed.
