An Analysis of Women’s Social Status 10 References 12 Abstract ?Jane Austen’s representitive work--- Pride and Prejudice, written in 1813, was a popular novel and had been spread through the world. The particular times Jane lived made people pay a very special attention to money, which had influenced their points on marriage to a degree. On one hand, by setting typical examples from the book, the author affirmed the importance of money in marriage; on thene other hand, she stressed us that feeling communication is more importance than money in it. By discussing the roles’ different pursues of marriage, this paper tell us the substance of marriage in that times is a union of beneficiation.Having analyzed her novels and the heroines in her novels, this article gives a peek at the women’s low location of the social ladder and the oppression the women suffer from the society in Britain at that time.
