The exp eriment s of decomposition of fine root s were carried out in pine forest ( PF ) , pine - broadleaved mixed forest ( PB F) and evergreen broadleaved forest ( EB F) in t he Dinghushan biosp here reserve. Regression analyses showed t hat t he power function of X/ X0 = e - kt wit h Adj . r2 (0 . 989 - 0 . 993) very well fitted wit h t he data of dry mass loss against time (year) . The t heoretical values of annual decomposition rate of root s wit h diameter ≤2mm derived from t he equations were 43 . 44 % , 43 . 97 % , 46 . 9 1 % for PF , PB F and EB F resp ectively and also fitted very well wit h t he measured ( ) ( ) values 43 . 15 % , 43 . 90 % , 45 . 68 % .
