Thisprojectdealswiththestudyofelectro-pneumaticsystemsand
theprogrammablecontrollerthatprovidesaneffectiveandeasywayto
controlthesequenceofthepneumaticactuatorsmovementandthestates
ofpneumaticsystem.Theprojectofaspecificcontrollerforpneumatic
applicationsjointhestudyofautomationdesignandthecontrol
processingofpneumaticsystemswiththeelectronicdesignbasedon
microcontrollerstoimplementtheresourcesofthecontroller.
1. Introduction
Theautomationsystemsthatuseelectro-pneumatictechnologyare
formedmainlybythreekindsofelements:actuatorsormotors,sensors
orbuttonsandcontrolelementslikevalves.Nowadays,mostofthe
controlelementsusedtoexecutethelogicofthesystemwere
substitutedbytheProgrammableLogicController(PLC). Sensorsand
switchesarepluggedasinputsandthedirectcontrolvalvesforthe
actuatorsarepluggedasoutputs.Aninternalprogramexecutesallthe
logicnecessarytothesequenceofthe movements,simulatesother
componentslikecounter,timerandcontrolthestatusofthesystem.
WiththeuseofthePLC, theprojectwinsagility,becauseitis
possibletocreateandsimulatethesystemasmanytimesasneeded.
Therefore,timecanbesaved,riskofmistakesreducedandcomplexity
canbeincreasedusingthesameelements.
A conventionalPLC, thatispossibletofindonthemarketfrommany
companies,offersmanyresourcestocontrolnotonlypneumaticsystems,
butallkindsofsystemthatuseselectricalcomponents.ThePLC canbe
veryversatileandrobusttobeappliedinmanykindsofapplicationin
theindustryorevensecuritysystemandautomationofbuildings.
Becauseofthosecharacteristics,insomeapplicationsthePLC
offerstomuchresourcesthatarenotevenusedtocontrolthesystem,
