She only lived 30 years in this cruel world and her life was so short that she had no time to publish another novel. Wuthering Heights , though looked strange at the first sight and not popular before she died in 1848 ,became Emily’s last song. Emily’s elder sister, Charlotte Bronte, the writer of “Jane Eyre” , doubted that whether this story would become a success like her own “Jane” did . However , she believed that her dear younger sister wouldn’t let her down .Finally , as time went by , people began to understand the profound theme in her novel. the dark society Britain in the beginning of 19th century was a society of mass. The conflict between workers and employers became sharp and worse. At the same time , quantities of job losers were enduring starvation. Also ,there were a large number of children who were forced to work in factory to make money for their lives. back picture Job losers No food No job They don’t know Where to go Poor Children Hungry and afraid… In this dark world… Endless conflicts back Mr. Heathcliff A boy is abandoned by his parents , then is saved and adopted by the kind-hearted owner of the Wuthering Heights. He may become a child laborer or a frozen dead body if the old owner doesn’t find him in the rainy storm night. He is named Heathcliff. The old man’s heart is so kind that he allows Heathcliff to live with his family , which includes An old man called Earnshaw His son And his young daughter. (You can guess what happens next…) Yes , he falls in love the girl. So does her. But , like a trick of destiny , that girl(Catherine) doesn’t marry him. She chooses Linton , a gentleman who has lots of money, to be her husband. Mr. Heathcliff ’s heart was badly hurt .
